Police in Pasadena, California, have warned Wells Fargo customers about a card skimming scam at the bank’s ATMs. For the second time in a week, a card skimmer was found on a Wells Fargo ATM machine. These devices look like part of the ATM but secretly record the user’s PIN and card number, enabling criminals to make illegal transfers and payments. Crime Prevention Officer Richard Lee advised people in the area to consider changing their PINs and to be aware of “shoulder surfers” who try to steal PIN numbers. He also advised customers to check ATMs closely before use, as thieves often place a façade over the card reader.
